Our open rehearsal on June 10th was a chance to meet with other guitarists of all standards, and we enjoyed hosting an evening playing a selection of ensembles on an array of different sizes of guitar, leaving our visitors to take away a set of ensemble music and - we hope - some happy memories and a tummy full of food and wine.
There are new pages on the website too...
At hago.org.uk you can now read up on many more of the curious sizes of guitar that exist the world over, and check up on their sizes and tuning.
And you can see the latest addition to our Out-Takes in the Scrapbook - we just can't be too serious for too long!
Besides, there's nothing wrong in being the Havant Air Guitar Orchestra too, and we've photos to prove it....
On July 10th, we are teaming up with Cambridge Guitar Orchestra. We've opened the on-line ticket box office now, and we have got the venue booked...
Special guests are the Crofton Children's Guitar Ensemble - tomorrow's guitarists in the making, and you can hear them today!
You might also like to know that our Musical Director, Derek Hasted, is holding another Guitar Concert in Bedhampton on July 1st, when his Guitar Ensemble Workshop raises money for two local charities - Portsmouth Headway (for head injuries) and Wessex Kidney Patients' Association (in memory of one of our musical director's pupils).
From now until the concert there are more details at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/concerts/
On July 31st, we pack our clean underwear and passports and head for Bath, where we are playing in the Bath International Guitar Festival.
Come and see us - it's a long way, but when you arrive,
you can buy a ticket for the princely sum of one pound - details at
www.igf-events.com/concerts.html - be prepared to scroll down an unreasonably vast number of lines to find our entry...
In August, hago declare "bucket and spade time" and are taking a break. Keep in touch with us via our website, and we'll be back with more news about hago in due course!
