Hampshire Guitar Orchestra newsletter

This is a web-archive of the Newsletter we emailed to our subscribers in February 2005

It's a bit late to wish you all a Happy New year, but this is nonetheless our first newsletter of 2005. Perhaps we should wish you Happy Valentine's Day instead!

So what's new?

Just before Christmas we wrote that we would be spring-cleaning the hago website, and that's happened. You might not notice much difference, but actually, the site has expanded to over 390 pages, we've a special section just for the hago players, and we're doing even better in the Google searches than we've done before.
In our first full month with the new website, we served up 21,000 pages to people visiting hago.org.uk, and we also welcomed people who came to our site purely because the words in one of our pages matched something they were looking for in Google that was most definitely not guitar related.

There was a massive photo of us in Classical Guitar Magazine February 2005 edition, plus a write-up on the 6th Guitar Orchestra Competition of Great Britain that we were so pleased to win.

We added one last item to our 2005 play list 3 days ago, and if you come to one of our Concerts, you'll be able to hear up to 7 new pieces, plus some of our trademark pieces like Palladio.

Talking of which... our main reason for writing is to tell you that we've finalised the first half of our 2005 Concert season.

On April 30th, we're playing at a concert to fund-raise for Cosham Inner Wheel.

On May 20th, we're delighted to play a full-length Concert in Havant, as part of Havant's "9 days in May" event - we're really looking forward to this one.

On June 11th, we're off to Cambridge as guests of Cambridge Guitar Orchestra

On June 23rd, we're honoured to be asked back to The Rowans, to play a Concert in their lovely upstairs meeting room, in aid of their fund-raising.

And if you come to nothing else, come down to Portsmouth on July 7th, when we have a real scoop for you - one of the southern hemisphere's finest guitarists is coming to share a concert with us, where you can hear beautiful solos from Bruce Paine - one of the world's best players, hago's inimitable blend of contrasting styles, and a closing item for guitar duet and guitar orchestra that will be a most moving end to what we hope is a remarkable concert.
