ABOUT THIS NEWSLETTER

As always, this free newsletter is a small-scale plain-text production to keep you in touch with what's happening in hago - we always include links into our main website where you can read more, see photos and explore still further, so do click when you see a link!

CONCERT NEWS

This is the season we like best - it keeps us on our toes, because we have three different concert programmes that we keep on the boil in the autumn...

Our main concert programme helped raise over £1000 for charity last month - read the story here... www.hago.org.uk/2005/
(We have a new fund-raising total - that's at www.hago.org.uk/charity/ - £24,208 raised for good causes so far).
Our Christmas programme is... well, actually, come and hear for yourself - we're hoping to raise £500 for two more charities on December 10th at Christ Church Portsdown - a few yards from the best view of Portsmouth at night that you'll ever get, and at a Church steeped in D-Day history.

WEBSITE NEWS

We're aware that someone is using fake hago email addresses to send spam. If you've been troubled by emails, apparently from hago, that aren't newsletters like this, then it's not us - the story is here
Our site is being spammed daily too but we've managed to defeat attempts to drag it down and all, touch wood, is fine.
We have added a new soundclip from last July's concert

RECRUITMENT NEWS

We're the biggest we've ever been - 14 players - and we have an alto just looking for a Grade 7+ player to help grow our ranks further. More here

GUITAR NEWS

We also have an alto for sale - see www.hago.org.uk - a lot has happened and we have an alto for sale in beautiful condition

FOR OVERSEAS VISITORS

No new photos this month, but let us tell you instead about the weather (yes, how British is that!). Two days ago, it snowed here in Portsmouth, and that's a rarity in itself, let alone in November. Portsmouth sits just south of Portsdown Hill (on which our December 10th venue is sited), and it's on the lee-side of most winter weather. Not so this year - it's been freezing. So spare a thought for us on December 10th when we'll be playing in a big old Church in shirtsleeves! Look out for UFOs too - some strange people round here think Portsdown Hill is one of the world's UFO hotspots...

PUBLICITY

Listen out for us on Radio Solent - our concerts are being advertised there.
As a non-profit making orchestra, many of whose concerts are for charity, we are always on the look-out for chances to raise public awareness of what we do, preferably at no cost, of course. If you are aware of opportunities to publicise what we do, please reply to this newsletter and send us details - thanks!
We'll be back just before Christmas with the latest fund-raising figures. Do come on December 10th and help us raise more money for good causes!
