This is a web-archive of the Newsletter we emailed to our subscribers in November 2006
|
This free newsletter is a small-scale production to keep you in touch with what's happening in hago - we always include links into our main website where you can read more, see photos and explore still further, so do click when you see a link...
Welcome to the many people who have subscribed since last issue - here's where you find out what we're up to.
A great concert on October 14th for Age Concern - there are brief details up on our website, and hopefully at some time, a picture of our Musical Director complete with his new toupee.
Well, not strictly correct...We'll leave you to come to a future concert to understand the parting of the waves...
I'm not sure how to say this, but if you were thinking of coming to see us on November 30th at the exquisite and historic Church in Southwick, I'm afraid you've left it too late. Yes, we've sold out. Can't get any more in.
Oh we've tried... the organisers are putting 12 seats in the balcony. Great view, but apparently, if more that 12 sit up there, it droops and they can't shut the West Door of the Church!
So if it was on your list of "must do"s, then come instead on December 2nd, to North End in Portsmouth. Different venue, different charity, different programme. That apart, it's identical...
Check out our concerts page from time to time as we have several possibles up our sleeve for next spring and summer. Yes, you're right - we hate sitting in a cold venue in the middle of winter as much as you do, so we don't! Close season for hago players.
Well close season, but we don't
a) hibernate
b) go breeding
How the mighty are fallen!
There we are spending massive effort trying to publicise the hago website and we suddenly get so over-run with visitors that it's costing a fortune to serve the pages!
Well that's only partly true - as our living history grows in size, the search engines, like Google, call by more often and search more pages, so our web traffic has been growing doubly fast. Right now we're serving 1000 megabytes of website a month, and getting hit up to 6000 times a day.
To help contain our costs, we've archived off a whole lot of old living history into our member section, where Google can't see.
There will be a period when Google offers searchers pages that have now gone, but once that period is over, we hope we can continue to fund the costs of keeping the website live forever.
We've removed a slice of pages but instead have a small but rather attractive gallery of photos from previous concerts and rehearsals.
Done and dusted here too - we're full.
For the first time ever, we've a full complement of players, and next time you come to a concert, you'll hear a bigger than ever sound.
The amount we've raised for local charities has now reached £27,500 - thank you for helping us in our outreach and charitable works
As a not-for-profit orchestra, with many concerts for charity, we are always on the look-out for chances to raise public awareness of what we do, preferably at no cost, of course. If you are aware of opportunities to publicise what we do, please reply to this newsletter and send us details - thanks!
