ABOUT THIS NEWSLETTER

This free newsletter is a small-scale production to keep you in touch with what's happening in hago - we always include links into our main website where you can read more, see photos and explore still further, so do click when you see a link...

Welcome to the many people who have subscribed since last issue - here's where you find out what we're up to.

An apology if you didn't hear straight away when you filled in the webform on the hago website. Here's why...

COMPUTER SAYS "NO"

In this digital age, we at hago use our digits even more than most - and not just when practising. We also use them for pounding the keys. And our MD's computer got so pounded that it stopped working. It's due back from the "hospital" next week, which means that our MD has been ferreting about in his backups (there's a phrase to conjure with!) getting our newsletter distribution list sorted out.

CONCERT NEWS

Concerts is what we're about - here's what's been happening...
Well, in the thespian tradition, we have been "resting" over the winter, primarily because most of our venues are churches, and most of our churches are very cold indeed in winter!
But behind the scenes we have been broadening the number of styles we have under our belt, and we welcome you to our very first concert of 2007, on March 16th.

It's in aid of "Hope and Homes for Children" - working to provide a proper home and real hope to orphaned children in poorer countries. Our concert includes a short presentation by the Albanian team.

WHAT'S COMING UP?

We're expecting to see our fund-raising total cross £30,000 this year, and that's down to the fact that many of our concerts have large audiences. And that's down to people like your good selves coming out and helping us keep live music alive.

We're playing in Emsworth on March 16th in aid of "Hope and Homes for Children"

We're playing at a lovely Church in Winchester on May 11th in aid of Retinitis Pigmentosa

We're pretty sure we're playing in Southsea on June 9th, for one of two possible charities.

We're playing in Cambridge on June 23rd, and back in Havant on July 7th.

And we've got 6 more lined up for after the summer, including the prospect of a slot at The Portsmouth Guildhall and an audience of 1500.
You can always get an up-to-date list on our concerts page

WEBSITE NEWS

Once again we've received emails all over the world from people who've been to our website. Unfortunately, a lot of them ask questions they know we can't answer - we've had two in the last week asking if there is a shop local to them that sells soprano guitars. It's unlikely at the best of times, but if they don't tell us where in the world they live, it's a bit hard to work out where "local" might be. We're cited in two articles on Wikipedia as source of information about non-standard-sized guitars.
We have a new page on our website that's printer-friendly and contains all our forthcoming concerts with as many details as we have. If you have friends who aren't wired into the web, why not print one off and make their day by giving them a hago year planner!

PUBLICITY

As a not-for-profit orchestra, with many concerts for charity, we are always on the look-out for chances to raise public awareness of what we do, preferably at no cost, of course. If you are aware of opportunities to publicise what we do, please reply to this newsletter and send us details - thanks!

You will often fund us in our local Evening Paper, or being advertised on Radio Solent, but word of mouth is one of the best ways we know to swell the audience size and raise more money for charity. If you can ever place a poster or two for us, mail us and we'll send an electronic copy over.
