WHAT A FANTASTIC YEAR

Here in hago, we have just played our final concert for 2008, and it was in a local Sheltered Accommodation unit - a set of warden-assisted flats for old folk who want a little room to call their own, but who can meet with their fellow residents for meals in a big communal lounge. We dusted off some singalong carols, plus some favourites from our rather diverse concert programme (yes, we shall be British and spell it programme, even though we've Newsletter readers across the world!)

It's always a very lovely and very moving evening, and our informal concert two nights ago was no exception - some lovely warbly singing of carols from everyone's childhood, some very funny and good-natured heckling from the residents, and they even made a little collection for the local Hospice as their thank you to us. How lovely is that!
It's one of our favourite concerts of the year, and it concludes a hectic year of hago concerts for charity; it brings our fundraising total to £4200 this year and to £42000 in total.
For overseas readers... Until recently, that was a LOT of US dollars, but it still buys a lot here in Blighty, and a dozen charities have been really pleased this year.

NEXT YEAR

We have more concerts booked for 2009 than are showing on our concerts page right now. If you have friends without Internet access, that page fits on a single sheet of paper - why not print it off and hand them a copy. It's an unusual Christmas present, we know, but a thoughtful one all the same...

We've set ourselves some New Year's Resolutions too - some for us and some for hago, so come and see us in concert later and see if you can deduce what they were. We'll be looking at some new music in 2009 too, with three new pieces being lovingly created note-by-note, even as we speak.

You can keep in touch with all things hago at our website - click on latest news. Even better, come and see us at Facebook (no membership required, but if you are a member you can become a fan and get even more news!)

AND SO...

So now it just remains for us, here in hago, to wish you all the compliments of the season. With readers across the world, in different continents, of differing religions but all united in a love of music, please accept our best wishes to you all for a very Merry Christmas, and may your dreams come true in 2009.

I know we'll see some of you at one of our concerts next year, and some of you will never know what it is that makes the audience laugh at our Musical Director quite so much... But to each and every one you, have a great 2009!
