LATEST NEWS

How time flies, but the extra day this weekend (for non-UK readers, we have a public holiday today) means that we can catch up on pleasant jobs like writing newsletters!

In our last newsletter we talked about the three new pieces we were going to premiere at our concert on April 25th.

Well, best laid plans and all that... By the time the concert came along we had four new pieces. More in a moment....

Since we last wrote, we've had a couple more sell-out concerts and a couple of concerts with room for on-the-doors (that's what you get when you play on a night when just down the road the Band of the Royal Marines is playing!)

We much enjoyed our visit to the quaintly-named Sherfield English, on the Hampshire/Wiltshire Border, and it was great to raise funds again for Age Concern, down in Portsmouth.

Our next concert was for our good friends at West Sussex Guitar Club, over at Bognor Regis, who were very supportive of us in our formative years, and for whom we were privileged to return to play a fund-raising concert for them. The concert was video'd, and if you visit our YouTube channel, you'll find 5 new videos, including two of our four new pieces. Our thanks go to Sasha Levtov for the video footage. You don't need to join YouTube in order to see the videos.

A week ago, we journeyed up to Richmond to play a concert for the elderly and disabled veteran soldiers who live at the Royal Star and Garter Home. Our afternoon concert was one of the most delightful and special occasions, and I think we were all a bit overcome by the loveliness of the people, and the majesty of their home. You can see a couple of photos in our Facebook album (membership not needed).
So that's what we've been up to (we hope you enjoy the video clips!)

WHAT'S COMING UP?

One thing's sure - we never stop here in hago. We have some more concerts coming up, and we invite you to come along, if you can.

On 13th June, we travel to Quarley, near Thruxton motor racing circuit, west of Andover, for a concert in aid of Alzheimer's, guests of the Four Parishes Arts Society.

On 20th June, we're up in Cambridge, as guests of Cambridge Guitar Orchestra

On 4th July, we're in Fareham at St Columba's Church

And we have a LOT more concerts coming up after that too! Advance notice that on 4th October in the afternoon, we're at the 2000-seater Portsmouth Guildhall again, guests of MGC.

Find out more on our concerts page.

PLAYERS - we may have a seat with your name on it...

Needless to say, we're still always welcoming new players who want to be part of what we do - we can offer some unique opportunities. It's hard work, but my goodness it's fun!

We have a particular need right now for a couple of players who are about Grade 8 standard. Our music isn't that hard, but we need players with a mature technique who will enjoy our varied repertoire. So do get in touch if you are interested in coming to meet us at rehearsal.
