This is a web-archive of the Newsletter we emailed to our subscribers in September 2009
|
This free newsletter is a small-scale production to keep you in touch with what's happening in hago - we always include links into our website where you can read
more, see photos and explore still further, so do click when you see a link...
Welcome to the many people who have subscribed since last issue. We're running at well over 100 subscribers now - and you're all very welcome :-)
We've been sitting here wondering where the time has gone...
Most of our subscribers are based in the UK, and there's no doubt that the August Bank Holiday yesterday - the last Monday in August - seems to signify the passing of Summer and the arrival of Autumn. All too soon, if you ask us!
If we've been wondering where Summer has gone, you might have been wondering where hago has gone.
And the simple answer is we've been on our Summer break.
Our most recent newsletter publicised all our forthcoming concerts for the Summer, and now it's time to look ahead to the Autumn.
Over the summer, we took the opportunity to change the way our website is hosted. Hopefully you won't see any difference at all, but here in hago we will see a slight reduction in the costs of keeping the website up and running.
We've also been making occasional updates to our website news page - always worth a quick look, in case there's any news.
So looking back, we can report that our concert in Quarley, Andover, was a fantastic success with a real party atmosphere and a lot more raised for the Alzheimer's Society than they ever imagined.
Our weekend in Cambridge was great fun, and we did manage to stitch up their Musical Director, Peter Rueffer, again.
We've put together some of our favourite photos of this, our favourite concert, on our website - click here to see them, including our "who couldn't handle the pace and fell asleep" selection.
And we finished the year off at Fareham. Well, actually, we hand an end-of-year celebration afterwards, courtesy of one of our players who trusted us not to make a mess in her new kitchen.
One thing's sure - we never stop here in hago. We have some more concerts coming up, and we invite you to come along, if you can.
On September 19th, we're in Petersfield.
On October 3rd, we've been invited back to Four Marks, near Alton
On the afternoon of October 4th, we're guests of Milton Glee Club at the 2000-seater Portsmouth Guildhall
On October 17th we're playing at St Mary's Church in the grounds of Portchester Castle.
And we have a LOT more concerts coming up after that too! Advance notice that on 4th October in the afternoon,
we're at the 2000-seater Portsmouth Guildhall again, guests of MGC.
Find out more on our concerts page.
Oh, and if you want guitar lessons, Derek, our MD has a couple of vacancies on his College course, and also has one-to-one vacancies during the day - ideal if you are retired or working flexible hours. You can "reply" to this email, but if you want to read up a bit more first, visit Derek's brand new classical guitar lesson pages.
We welcome a handful of new players at our first rehearsal this week, but we're always looking for more!
Check out our website - there's a whole lot of miscellaneous news there.
And you can find us on Facebook too.
If you're not a member, you can read all our latest news. Check out the Boxes and Wall tabs.
If you're a member, become a Fan - then you can get automatic reminders about our next concert, and get occasional news posted to your NewsFeed. Sounds a bit alien? Well, click the link and see!
Look out for us on local radio and in the press. And if you can get as a mention somewhere local to you, please do - word of mouth is our best advertisement!
We hope to see you at one of our concerts...
With best wishes from everyone in hago!
