hago in rehearsal

hago in rehearsal

What's it like to play in a guitar orchestra?

Come to a rehearsal - no obligation.
See why it's so exciting & fulfilling; discover why people travel from Surrey, Sussex & N Hants to be in hago!
We have a lot of fun, but we always work hard to make the finest music - not just notes - that we can.

hago seeks . . .

We need confident sight-readers with a well-developed apoyando, happy to play up the neck. Our music isn't difficult, but those below Grade 4-5 are unlikely to have the ear for detail and warm tone we require. We need the relaxed & sensitive phrasing that comes with higher grades.

We're a strong team - we welcome people who enjoy the way we work - good humour plus attention to detail.

Our Musical Director

Derek Hasted - potted biography here - has a master's degree, a teaching diploma and a CRB enhanced disclosure check.

All the facts The inside story

Commitment

A termly fee of £35-40 covers 6 fortnightly rehearsals on Thursday evenings. Players are expected to aim for 100% attendance.

We play regular concerts - many for charities. You provide your own Concert Dress - we can help with the red!

Where and when?

We rehearse at Lovedean Village Hall - our dates are here.

How it works

Our aim is to make great music - we work hard in rehearsal and at home to create the hago sound. You'll need a classical guitar with good intonation and projection, but your musical maturity matters more than the price of your guitar!

What next?

Try a rehearsal - no obligation, no fee - simply contact us with brief details about yourself. If you like what you see and we like what we see, there's a place for you!

Part & partner

Everyone in hago shares their line with at least one partner - our buddy system gives us a robust and confident sound. Buddies sometimes meet between rehearsals to share fingerings and get a tight sound.
